Kimya PETG Carbon Filament is a high-performance, fiber-reinforced 3D printing material. PETG is a polyethylene terephthalate modified with glycol. It is a thermoplastic material that belongs to the polyester family. PET is one of the most common materials used in everyday life, as it is used for plastic bottles, for example. The glycol-modified variant is tougher and does not splinter as quickly as pure PET. The PETG Carbon of the French manufacturer Kimya listed here is additionally mixed with carbon fibres. This gives the filament an enormous stiffness. Printed components made of this material are ideal for printing quadrocopters or components of drones, for example. PETG carbon is also used for model making or in industrial applications such as brackets and production aids. As this material is reinforced with carbon fibres, it is an abrasive filament. This means that a standard brass pressure nozzle wears out quickly and may break. We therefore recommend using a hardened pressure nozzle, for example made of tool steel or with a gemstone tip. Ideally, the material transport system (feeder) should also be equipped for abrasive filaments. Furthermore, we recommend that this material be stored in a dry place and protected from moisture. PETG carbon is UV-sensitive in its raw form and also slightly hygroscopic.
